How it works

  1. Add one photo. Straight on, in daylight, hair visible. Your browser shrinks it to about a thousand pixels and strips the camera data before anything is sent.
  2. Pick one look. The five FREE tiles run here. Every APP tile opens the same look in HairGlam, with the tile you tapped already chosen.
  3. See it on you. The edit uses the same instruction the app sends, so what you get here is what the app does, with a small watermark on the free version.

Why try it before the salon

A cut you like on someone else is a cut on their bone structure. The only test that settles whether a bob shortens your neck, whether curtain bangs suit your forehead, or whether copper fights your skin, is the same look on your own face. Ten seconds here can save you a month of growing something out.

Questions about the free try on

Is the try on really free?
Yes. You get 3 free looks a day here, no signup and no card. The free looks carry a small HairGlam watermark, the same one the app puts on its free renders. The app has every one of the 299 looks, unlimited, without the watermark, and is free to download.
How accurate is the result?
It is a photo edit, not a sketch: the model keeps your face, skin tone, hairline and lighting and changes only the hair or makeup. A straight on, evenly lit photo with your hair visible gives the most convincing result. A dark, angled or heavily filtered photo gives the model less to work with.
What happens to my photo?
Your photo is sent to our server for the edit and passed to Google Gemini, the AI that renders the look. It is used only to make that image. Nothing is stored on our servers, nothing is logged about the picture, and the result is returned to your browser and kept nowhere else.
Why adults only?
The tool edits a photo of a face, so we ask that you only upload a photo of yourself and that you are 18 or older. Please do not upload photos of children or of other people without their permission.
Can I try more than one look?
Yes, 3 a day on the site: try a cut, then a color, then one more. Every look you tap that is not in the free set is in the HairGlam app, which has no daily limit.
Can I try a color or makeup look on the site?
Yes. The free set has four hair colors and one makeup look, Full Glam, next to eight cuts. The other 35 makeup looks, from a no-makeup makeup to a winged liner, render on your own photo in the app.
Do you have an app?
Yes. HairGlam for iPhone and iPad is free to download. It renders any of the looks on this page onto your photo, saves the ones you like, and lets you show a stylist your own face with the cut on it. HairGlam Pro, billed weekly, monthly, or yearly, removes the limit and the watermark.
