What makes it read as a proper afro is the shaping, not the length alone. The hair is picked out from the roots to full volume and then scissor-cut against the round, so the silhouette stays even from every angle. Density does the structural work here and sparse areas show up as flat spots. It wants moisture nightly and a wide pick each morning, and it compresses wherever you lean, so the back flattens as you sleep.

  • Suitsoval, oblong, diamond face shapes. The sphere carries its width at the temple and forehead, filling the narrow ends of a diamond outline and shortening a long face, while doubling down on an already round one.
  • Hair typecoily, curly, medium density, thick. Density is the whole game: thick coily hair holds the sphere, while fine coils give a smaller softer shape that will not pick out as high.
  • UpkeepA shape-up every four to six weeks to hold the round, with nightly moisture and a pick each morning to lift the roots.
  • Ask forAsk for the afro to be picked out fully and then scissor-cut round, and say how much height you want kept on top.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Afro on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.

Every style in this catalog renders onto a photo of you, so you are judging your own face shape and coloring rather than a model's.
