Haircuts for a diamond face

Your cheekbones are the widest point and both the forehead and the chin are narrower. The cuts that work add width at the forehead and the jaw and leave the cheekbones alone.

How to tell

Cheekbone width is your largest measurement, clearly greater than both forehead and jaw, and the chin comes to a point. Face length is usually greater than cheekbone width. It is the least common of the six shapes and it is often mistaken for heart, so check whether the forehead or the cheekbones are genuinely wider before you decide.

What actually works, and why

The goal is filling in the narrow ends rather than trimming the wide middle. Fringes and curtain bangs add apparent width at the forehead. Length and fullness at or below the jaw does the same at the bottom. Chin length bobs, lobs with movement at the ends, and side parts all help. Tucking hair behind the ears exposes the cheekbones fully, which is the one move that emphasises the shape rather than balancing it.

What tends to fight it

Styles that pull everything tight against the temples and flat to the head make the cheekbones the only thing with width. Very short cuts with no forehead coverage leave the narrow top exposed. Slicked back looks have the same effect. Heavy volume at the cheekbone itself, which is where a lot of mid length layered cuts naturally sit, widens the widest point.

See it on your own face first

Every style in this catalog renders onto a photo of you, so you are judging your own face shape and coloring rather than a model's.
