A bright blue-red at full saturation, clean and cold-edged, without the brown that keeps a burgundy grounded.

This is a vivid rather than a dye laid over brunette, so it needs a lifted base to read as the pure cherry it is. On an unlifted dark base the same pigment turns dark wine and loses the brightness entirely. Bright reds are the fastest-fading direct dyes there are: it bleeds in the shower through the first week, stains fabric, and drifts to a soft coral rose by about week three.

  • Undertonecool, neutral. Cool and neutral skin holds up beside it best, because the blue side of the red stops it fighting the pink already in the skin.
  • Starting pointLevel eight or nine, so anything from dark blonde down has to be bleached first; on an unlifted base what you get is burgundy, not cherry.
  • UpkeepPigmented conditioner at most washes, cold water only, and a full re-application roughly every four weeks as the color drops toward coral.

Try it before the bleach

Color is the expensive mistake to get wrong. Put Electric Cherry against your own skin tone first.
