Because caramel sits close to the base, wide slices produce ribbons rather than stripes: thick warm sections travel through the dark brown without the hard band a chunky blonde creates. It shows most when the hair moves or is curled, since curling stacks the slices against the base. The lift is moderate, so texture survives better than it would under a chunky blonde. Fading pushes the slices toward copper.

  • Undertonewarm. The whole placement stays in the warm brown family, which keeps the overall depth medium to dark and reads naturally on golden, olive and deep skin.
  • Starting pointThe slices need three to four levels of lift, achievable in one visit on brown hair, though a very dark base has to be watched to stop the wide sections going orange.
  • UpkeepEvery eight to ten weeks, because the wide sections make regrowth easier to see than a weave, with a warm gloss to hold the caramel tone.

Try it before the bleach

Color is the expensive mistake to get wrong. Put Caramel Chunky Highlights against your own skin tone first.
