Length exaggerates what a deep part does. With hair below the bust, the heavy side has enough weight to hold a real curtain over one eye and cheek, while the exposed side shows jaw and neck, so the face reads asymmetric from every angle. Keep the front sections a touch shorter than the back so the sweep has something to fall from. On very heavy hair the part can drag flat, and a root lift at the crown fixes it.
- Suitsround, oval, square, diamond face shapes. An off-center sweep drops hair across one side of the brow, adding width where a diamond forehead is narrow and denying a round or square outline the evenness it reads width from.
- Hair typemedium density, thick, straight, wavy. Density matters more here than pattern, because the swept side needs weight to stay put and fine hair tends to slip back toward center.
- UpkeepTrim every twelve weeks, reset the part at every wash, and count on a few iron passes on the front curtain to keep its direction across the face.
- Ask forAsk for a deep part on your stronger side, long layers behind it, and front pieces cut to cheekbone or lip length so the sweep has shape.
