Both renders are HairGlam output. In the app the shade lands on your photo instead.

This is the most opaque color you can put on hair: it fills the hair evenly and flattens out the light and shade a lighter shade would show. With no secondary pigment in the mix, it does not shift between rooms the way raven or blue black do, so it looks the same in daylight and lamplight. It also sets the hardest contrast against skin, which sharpens the outline of the face and makes any redness in the complexion more noticeable.

  • Undertoneneutral, cool. A true black holds no color cast at all, which is what keeps it neutral beside almost any complexion, though the sheer depth reads most severe on very fair skin.
  • Starting pointBlack deposits over any natural depth with no lifting at all, though bleached or highlighted hair needs a warm filler first or the color settles green.
  • UpkeepThe color itself lasts for months, but regrowth shows as a visible line at the part within three to four weeks if your natural shade is lighter, and the lasting cost is how hard black is to lift back out later.

Try it before the bleach

Color is the expensive mistake to get wrong. Put Jet Black against your own skin tone first.
