Each strand is a thin polyester filament knotted onto a single hair at the root, so no dye is involved and the base color underneath stays exactly as it was. Scattered through the crown and lengths, the effect is a flicker of primary color that shows only when light hits at the right angle and vanishes the rest of the time. Against dark hair the contrast is sharp; on pale blonde the strands blend in and read mostly as shine.

  • Undertonewarm, cool, neutral. The set carries warm and cool color at once, so no single undertone governs the result, and the real decision is how much contrast you want against your own base depth.
  • Starting pointNothing needs lifting, because the strands sit on top of the hair rather than in it, so this goes over black, brown or blonde with no bleach involved.
  • UpkeepTied strands survive six to eight weeks of washing before they slide down and get cut out, and they must be kept clear of flat irons because the filament melts.

Try it before the bleach

Color is the expensive mistake to get wrong. Put Rainbow Tinsel against your own skin tone first.
