Unlike tinsel these have width and movement: each feather is about an eighth of an inch across and several inches long, so it reads as a defined colored stripe rather than a glint. They are attached with a micro bead or a small clip at the root, a few at a time, and often weighted to one side so they show when the hair is tucked behind an ear. Most can be washed and even heat styled at low temperature.
