This is a styling position more than a cut. Strong hold gel or pomade goes through damp hair from the hairline back, then a fine tooth comb sets it, and you choose whether the comb tracks stay visible or get smoothed away. Mid-length works because the ends are short enough not to swing forward again. The wet finish holds all day but has to be washed out, and it will flatten the roots while it sets.
- Suitsoval, round face shapes. The length is taken behind the ear and set flat, so a round face loses the width at its cheek, and with the hairline bare nothing is left to adjust the rest of the outline.
- Hair typestraight, wavy, medium density, thick. Straight or wavy hair with some coarseness holds comb tracks, while very fine hair turns stringy and looks sparse once it is wet with product.
- UpkeepThe cut needs a trim every ten weeks, but the look itself is a ten minute job with gel and a comb daily, and the product has to come out at night.
- Ask forAsk for a shoulder-length cut with no face-framing layers, then set it back from the hairline with strong hold gel and a fine tooth comb.
