The shaved panel usually runs from the temple to just behind the ear, and the disconnected length above it is long enough to cover the whole thing when you want it hidden. Sweeping it over creates a strong diagonal and leaves a lot of visible scalp on the short side. The shave needs a clipper pass every couple of weeks or it goes fuzzy, and growing it back means months of an awkward shelf where the two lengths meet.
- Suitsoval, round, square face shapes. One side taken to the skin removes all width at the temple and cheek, and the hard diagonal across the head robs a round or square face of the balance it looks wide on.
- Hair typemedium density, thick, straight, wavy. Dense hair gives the swept side enough body to cover the shave cleanly, and the clipper work itself sits tidiest on straight to wavy texture.
- UpkeepReset the shaved panel with clippers every two to three weeks, and smooth the long side daily so it lies flat instead of lifting off the shave.
- Ask forAsk for a disconnected sidecut running temple to mastoid, usually a number one or two guard, with the top left long and swept across.
