Nothing is locked in this style: your own hair is braided down and extension hair is wrapped around each braid, which is why the finish is far more even than grown locs ever look. The wrapping adds real weight and the tension sits at the root, so a good install should never feel tight. Six to eight weeks is the sensible limit, after which new growth makes the wrap slip.

  • Suitsround, square, oval face shapes. Every loc is the same diameter, so the set hangs as an even curtain down both sides of the face, shading width off a round cheek or a square jaw.
  • Hair typefine, medium density, curly, coily. The extension hair does the work, so textures that will not lock on their own are fine, though very fine hair needs smaller braids and lighter locs.
  • UpkeepTake them down at eight weeks, wash and treat your own hair between installs, and cleanse the scalp with diluted shampoo through the braids meanwhile.
  • Ask forAsk for a lightweight faux loc install on small braided bases, and say plainly that you want no tension at the hairline.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Faux Locs Long on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
