The contrast is the highest of any split there is, setting the darkest depth against the lightest with no midtone between them. In low light the white side reads silver and the black side goes flat, while direct sun pushes the white toward yellow the moment the toner wears off. The white half needs violet toner constantly; the black half stays put and only loses a little depth at the very ends.
- Undertonecool, neutral. The pairing sits neutral to cool, so it stays clean against fair and olive skin and holds its sharpness on deep skin where warm blondes turn muddy.
- Starting pointThe dark half can go straight over anything, but the white half must reach a pale level ten before toner goes on, which means bleach unless you are already near white.
- UpkeepTone the white side every three to four weeks to hold off yellow, expect a visible dark root on that half within a month, and keep bond repair in the routine.
