Pink + Black Split Dye
A center part divides the hair into a soft pastel pink half and a jet black half, with no blending across the line.

The black half is as dark and flat as hair color goes, which gives the pastel pink something dense to sit against and makes the pink read brighter than it would on its own. Pink is a pale, translucent pigment, so that half has to be lifted nearly to white before the color goes on, while the black half accepts depth with no lifting at all. Because the two halves sit at completely different depths, the part has to stay razor straight or the mismatch shows immediately. The pink drops out first, fading toward a pale, washed blonde.
- Undertonecool, neutral. The pastel pink and true black together sit cleanest against pink-toned and neutral fair skin, and the density of the black keeps the pairing from looking washed out on deeper skin.
- Starting pointThe black half goes on directly over any starting depth, while the pink half needs bleaching to a pale level nine or ten before the pastel tone will show true.
- UpkeepRefresh the pastel pink every 4 to 6 weeks since it fades fastest of any pigment, while the black half only needs a root touch-up as new growth appears.
