Hair is divided, twisted into one or two thick ropes, then carried around the head above the ears and pinned where the ends meet so the join disappears. The band sits high enough to expose the neck and ears entirely. It needs enough length to travel the full circumference, so shoulder length is roughly the floor. Pins do all the structural work, and a few extra around the back stop the rope sagging by evening.
- Suitsoval, oblong face shapes. The rope lays a horizontal band at temple height and adds no crown lift at all, which is exactly what stops a long face reading long.
- Hair typemedium density, thick, wavy, curly, coily. Needs length and body for the rope to hold its own diameter, and very fine hair produces a thin band that reads as a headband rather than hair.
- UpkeepA styling choice rather than a cut, so no trim cadence of its own, but it costs ten minutes and a handful of pins each time you wear it.
- Ask forAsk for a halo or crown twist set above the ear line, with the join pinned at the back and a few grips hidden underneath.
