Nothing is cut. The hair at the temples and above the ears is brushed up and pinned along an invisible line down the middle, and those pinned ends join the natural crown volume to build one raised ridge. Laid with gel the sides read almost flat; left dry they keep a soft cushion against the head. The raised section can be one gathered ball or a run of pinned sections stepping from front to back.

  • Suitsoval, round, square face shapes. Flattening the sides and stacking height on the center line makes the head read taller and narrower, which counters width across a round or square face.
  • Hair typethick, curly, coily. It needs coily or tightly curled hair with real density, since looser textures collapse under their own weight once pinned upward.
  • UpkeepThere is no cut to maintain, so a shape-up every eight to twelve weeks covers it, but budget fifteen minutes of sectioning and pinning each time you set it.
  • Ask forAsk for a faux hawk built with pins instead of clippers, with the side sections pinned toward the center and the crown left full.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Afro Bun Mohawk on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
