Magenta occupies the ground between red and violet, and next to cherry it reads distinctly pink and much less bloody. On a dark base the panel looks near-black until the hair lifts off the shoulders, then throws a strong pink cast across the underside. Dense pigment means it holds better than any pastel, but it fades in stages, going bubblegum first and then a peach-tinged blonde as the underlying yellow surfaces.
