Clippers take the top and sides down to something near a crop, and the only length anywhere is a tail of two or three inches below the occipital bone. The step between the two is hard and deliberate rather than blended, which is what separates it from a grown-out crop. There is nothing to style, but the nape and the outline around the ears go fuzzy fast, and a blurred outline makes it read unkempt.

  • Suitsoval, square face shapes. At clipper length the outline is skull and jaw, so a defined jawline is on show by choice and there is no hair anywhere to correct a wider face.
  • Hair typemedium density, thick, straight, coily. Any density works at clipper length, but the tail needs enough weight or curl to hold its own shape rather than hanging as a few thin strands.
  • UpkeepA clipper refresh roughly every three weeks to keep the nape line and ear outline sharp, and the styling is a towel dry.
  • Ask forAsk for a number two over the top and sides, a hard line at the nape, and two or three inches of tail left below the occipital bone.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Close Cropped Mullet on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
