The shortest layers land at the crown, which is where the volume comes from, and the sides are hollowed out around the cheekbone so the face is framed rather than covered. The perimeter is left fine and separated instead of blunt, and the back sits a little longer than the front, which is the mullet half of the shape. Salt spray and air drying, or a rough blast with the fingers, is all it needs.
- Suitsround, oval, heart face shapes. Height at the crown and hollowed sides push the outline vertical, which stretches a round face, while the front pieces cover the wider forehead of a heart shape.
- Hair typemedium density, thick, straight, wavy. It wants enough density that the crown layers stand up and enough natural bend that the choppy ends separate, because poker straight fine hair reads thin at the perimeter.
- UpkeepEight to ten weeks between cuts because the shape is deliberately uneven, with texture spray on damp hair and no blow-dry needed.
- Ask forAsk for razored or point-cut layering that begins at the crown, the sides hollowed at the cheekbone, and the back left about an inch longer than the front.
