Long hair holds more rows of curl, so the brushed-out result reads as a repeating series of ridges from the ear all the way down instead of one or two big bends. That takes many more pins and a much longer dry, often overnight. The bottom few inches usually finish in a soft roll rather than a wave, because the last coil sits at the very end of the hair. Weight drops the pattern faster here than at shoulder length.

  • Suitsoval, round, square face shapes. Ridges repeating down the length keep the visible width even rather than concentrated at the cheek, which stops a round or square face reading wider at its broadest point.
  • Hair typemedium density, thick, straight, wavy. The length needs body all the way down, since hair that goes fine at the ends loses the bottom tier of waves within an hour.
  • UpkeepEnds want dusting three or four times a year, and each set is an overnight in pins, so most people wear it for an occasion rather than every day.
  • Ask forAsk for a strong, mostly one-length perimeter below the bust and say the cut is for a roller or pin-curl set, so no heavy internal thinning.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Pin Curls Long on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
