The shaved section runs from the temple back over the ear and is usually taken to a short guard rather than bare skin, so it reads as texture rather than a bald patch. Everything else is parted hard above it and falls in waves across the head to the open side, which means the cut can be hidden by dropping the part back toward center. The clipped side grows in fast and shows a fuzzy line within a couple of weeks.

  • Suitsround, oval, square face shapes. Losing the bulk on one side removes width at the cheek and sets a hard diagonal across the head, which leaves a round or square outline lopsided enough to stop reading wide.
  • Hair typemedium density, thick, wavy, curly. Thick hair gives the swept side enough mass to cover the part line, and a natural wave or curl hides the join between the clipped section and the length.
  • UpkeepThe shaved side wants clippers every second or third week at a number two or three guard, while the long side only wants a trim each quarter.
  • Ask forAsk for a one-sided undercut running temple to mastoid at a two or three guard, with a hard part above it and the length left wavy.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Sidecut Wavy on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
