Every strand has to reach a pale near-white stage before toner goes on, so this is really a two-part process and the result depends entirely on how evenly the lift went. It is the highest-commitment shade there is: regrowth shows within two weeks because the contrast against natural root color is total, and the hair is left porous and softer than it started. Under any lighting it stays bright, which is the whole reason people want it.
