This is the quiet version of purple rather than the vivid one: the tone is desaturated enough to read as purple-tinted brown in most light. That makes it the easiest of the purple dips to wear in a conservative setting, since it only announces itself outdoors. It fades toward a warm mauve and then back into brown, so there is no awkward halfway stage to sit through.
