Layered Bob

Soft graduated layers cut through a jaw-length shape, so the ends break up and the hair moves instead of sitting flat.

Rather than one perimeter carrying everything, this is built in stages: the shortest pieces sit around the jaw and run down into the nape, and the length beneath them stays, spreading weight up the shape instead of pooling it at the bottom. The result bends and separates without much product. It also hides a grow-out well, because the layers keep working as they drop past the jaw over the following months.

  • Suitssquare, heart, oval face shapes. Movement at the jaw replaces the hard horizontal a blunt bob leaves there, which takes the point off a square corner and gives a narrow chin some weight to sit against.
  • Hair typemedium density, thick, wavy, straight. It wants enough density that removing weight is a gain, and fine hair can carry it only if the layers stay long and few.
  • UpkeepA trim around every eight to ten weeks, and most days it needs nothing more than a rough dry and a little cream worked through the ends.
  • Ask forAsk for a bob with soft internal graduation, the shortest layer at the cheekbone, and the perimeter left connected so the ends do not shelf.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Layered Bob on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
