Heart face shape

Haircuts for a heart face

The forehead is your widest point and the chin comes to a narrow point, often with a widow's peak. The cuts that work add visual weight low and take a little away at the top.

How to tell

Your forehead measures wider than your cheekbones, and both are clearly wider than your jaw. The chin is narrow and slightly pointed. A widow's peak at the hairline is common but not required. The overall read is wide at the top, tapering down.

What actually works, and why

You are rebalancing top against bottom. Anything that puts fullness at or below the jaw, a chin length bob with movement, waves that start at the cheekbone, a lob with layers at the ends, gives the narrow lower face something to sit against. Side swept and curtain bangs cover part of the wide forehead without cutting the face short. Chin length is the single most reliable landing point, because it puts weight exactly where the face is narrowest.

What tends to fight it

Very short blunt cuts with volume concentrated at the crown add width where the face is already widest and leave the chin with nothing. Tight slicked back styles expose the full forehead. Heavy blunt bangs can work, but they shorten the face and emphasise how narrow the chin is by comparison, so test them before committing.

See it on your own face first

Every style in this catalog renders onto a photo of you, so you are judging your own face shape and coloring rather than a model's.
