Nothing is left forward, so the forehead, hairline and cheekbone line are all on show. The top needs roughly four inches to reach the crown once combed back, and it is held there with gel, wet look cream or a firm pomade rather than cut into place. Fine hair sits flatter and shinier; heavier hair lifts a little at the crown and reads fuller. Regrowth at the nape shows first.
- Suitsoval, round face shapes. With nothing left at the sides and the length pushed back over the crown, the widest point of the head moves off the cheek, but the hairline and jaw are fully on show.
- Hair typefine, medium density, straight, wavy. The hair has to be willing to lie down, so straight and loosely wavy textures behave best, while coarse or curly hair fights the flat surface unless it is heavily loaded with product.
- UpkeepCut every five to six weeks to keep the sides tight, and expect to wet and comb it back with product every single morning.
- Ask forAsk for about four inches through the top so it reaches the crown when combed back, with the sides tapered tight so nothing pushes out above the ear.
