The nape is cut close, the sides stay above the ear, and everything above that is left long enough to fall over the crown in separated pieces. Layers go into the interior rather than only at the perimeter, so the shape has lift without needing a round brush. Styling is a paste or texture spray rubbed in with the fingers. It grows out into a shaggy bob rather than into anything awkward.
- Suitsround, oval face shapes. Length kept on top with the sides and nape taken in adds height and strips width from the cheek, which is the pairing that stretches a round outline.
- Hair typefine, medium density, thick, wavy. It needs some grit or natural bend to hold the separated pieces, since very silky fine hair lies down flat between the layers.
- UpkeepFive to six weeks, because the nape and sides outgrow the top quickly, with about a minute of paste through the ends each morning.
- Ask forAsk for a bixie: pixie length at the nape and sides, bob length through the top, with interior layers cut for texture rather than volume.
