Curly hair is added into the braid and pulled out at intervals rather than braided in, giving a soft cloud of texture over a clean knotless base. Because those wisps hang loose, they tangle sooner than the braids do and need combing through with a leave-in every couple of days. The overall shape is deliberately less uniform than plain knotless work, and the curls soften the hard line the braids would otherwise draw against the face.
