Sections run roughly an inch or wider, which cuts install time to a few hours instead of most of a day. The trade is weight: fewer, heavier braids pull on a smaller number of anchor points, so tension at the temples matters more here than it does with finer work. Because each braid is bulky in itself, the style keeps its shape pulled into a high bun and looks finished without edge control.

  • Suitsoval, heart, oblong face shapes. The bulk of each braid carries visual width beside the jaw, which fills out a long face and balances a narrow chin.
  • Hair typemedium density, thick, curly, coily. Heavier sections need a dense root to carry the load, so thick curly or coily hair takes the tension far better than fine hair.
  • UpkeepGood for four to six weeks, and the daily work is mostly re-tying at night and washing in sections so the base does not build up.
  • Ask forAsk for jumbo braids on inch-wide parts, and say clearly that you want light tension at the hairline.

Does it suit your face?

A photo of Jumbo Braids on someone else cannot answer that. Render it on your own face and you will know in a few seconds.
