All the braids finish at roughly the same point, so the ends form a level line at the jaw instead of tapering off. That short length takes most of the weight out, which is the main reason people choose it over waist-length work: it does not drag on the scalp and it dries fast. Ends are sealed in hot water so they stay blunt and do not fray. Grown out, it simply reads as a slightly longer braided bob.
